简介
SCLY protein plays an important role in selenium metabolism by catalyzing the decomposition of L-selenocysteine to produce L-alanine and elemental selenium. This enzymatic process is critical for regulating intracellular selenium utilization and recycling. SCLY Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived SCLY protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
-
Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
SCLY, or Selenocysteine Lyase, is a crucial enzyme involved in the metabolism of selenium, a vital micronutrient essential for various biological processes. Research on SCLY has gained significance due to its role in the synthesis of selenoproteins, which are integral to antioxidant defense, thyroid hormone metabolism, and immune responses. Disruption in SCLY function has been linked to a range of pathological conditions, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders. The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of selenocysteine into selenium and cysteine, highlighting its importance in regulating selenium levels in the body. Understanding the structure, function, and regulation of SCLY is critical for elucidating its biological significance and potential therapeutic applications. Additionally, studies on SCLY can offer insights into selenium's role in human health and disease, paving the way for novel strategies in managing selenium deficiency and related disorders. As a focus of innovative biochemical research, SCLY's properties and mechanisms offer promising avenues for enhancing our understanding of selenium's multifaceted role in human health.
